Arab Community Center For Economic & Social Services (ACCESS)

ACCESS Breast Cancer Outreach Project outlines the increasing need for screening, awareness and research in hard to reach communities. Mostly Low income Arab American women who are refugees or recent immigrants have limited knowledge of cancer morbidity and limited access to healthcare due to insurance.
Our Mission: To increase the proportion of breast cancer diagnoses at earlier stages.
Our Vision: To save lives and to have a world without breast cancer.

Catherine's Health Center

Count Me In is a women's breast health program of Catherine's Health Center. Working with a team of staff and volunteers we reach out to low income women of the community. We meet and interact with women on site and at locations and events chosen because they draw women in our target groups. In addition to basic education regarding risk of breast cancer, and information about available options for breast care, women will be provided a clinical breast exam (CBE). Those for whom mammogram is indicated will be assisted to schedule appointments for screening services at a location within their community. Our navigation team provides reminder calls, assistance with transportation and translation services if needed. Women who have abnormal results of screening will also be assisted in accessing follow up diagnostic and treatment services, which are also provided free to qualifying women. We follow up to assist women with ongoing annual screening and routine breast care. Younger women or men needing services will also be assisted to access necessary and appropriate services free or at very low cost via partner organizations.
