Inspiring Initiatives: Avon Research Team Presents New Findings at National Breast Cancer Symposium

For thirty-five years, the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium's mission has been to provide state-of-the-art information on photo research Rachelbreast cancer research. Starting as a one-day regional conference, the symposium has grown to a five-day program attended by a broad international audience of academic and private researchers and physicians from over 100 countries.
The symposium aims to achieve a balance of clinical, translational, and basic research. It provides a forum for interaction, communication, and education for a broad spectrum of researchers, health professionals, and those with a special interest in breast cancer.
Dr. Rachel Hallum-Montes represented CAI/Avon BHOP on December 4-5 at this year's symposium. "Our posters generated considerable interest from researchers and practitioners alike," said Dr. Hallum-Montes. "I presented the Rates of Cancer Detection poster on the evening of the 4th, and attendees were very impressed with the number of screenings offered annually through Avon BHOP. They also had some great comments related to additional analyses of the data."
Dr. Hallum-Montes also presented on the Audio Computer Assisted Self Interview (ACASI) pilot study on the morning of the 5th, and had many clinicians and clinical researchers remark that it would be ideal for the settings where they work. "Doctors from Yale, University of California (San Francisco), Stanford, and UMass (Amherst) indicated that they would be extremely interested in pursuing an arrangement with us to pilot ACASI at their respective sites," said Hallum-Montes. "This is such an outstanding program, and it was an honor to represent the BHOP team at the symposium."
