My commitment to the breast cancer cause started in 1998, after my own breast cancer scare. Since then, I have raised over $177,000 and participated in thirteen Avon Walks for Breast Cancer - this year will be my 14th! More importantly, my involvement led me to my current position as Manager of Special Events and Volunteer Projects at God's Love We Delive, one of the beneficiaries of the New York City walk. The annual grant we receive from the Avon Foundation for Women allow us to maintain our commitment and care for individuals living with breast cancer, particularly from underserved communities, provided free of charge with no waiting list.
God's Love We Deliver offers patients a comprehensive intake session by highly trained staff members, ongoing customized nutritional counseling by registered dieticians, home-delivered meals tailored to meet the patient's needs. We also offer expert nutritional advice and nutrition booklets published by our staff for individuals living with breast cancer to help manage their illness, ease medication side effects and promote wellness. My wish for the individuals we serve is that as a result of our efforts they gain strength while undergoing treatment and that they continue to stay healthy long after treatment!
